Concept Note Production
If you want to pilot new programs, I can help write a concept note to study its feasibility and suggest some smaller prototypes you can create before you invest your organization's money and time to it. Here is a link to two samples of concept notes I have written in the past:
Process
Project Scoping
We’ll have an initial meeting to clarify the purpose of the project, discuss what success would look like for you and the roles and responsibilities that we would each take.
Research & Information Gathering
I’ll ask you some questions to better understand your organization’s services, programs and unique value proposition so that I can craft a winning grant application or proposal. I’ll also conduct some research into the grant or opportunity you want to apply for, such as looking at their history of past awardees, to understand what they are looking for, so we can align our application to these elements.
Create First Draft
Based on the information gathered, I will conduct further research and write a first draft of the grant application or proposal, which may include the following sections:
Description of the social issue, its scale and articulate why someone should care
Existing interventions and the gaps that exist
Your proposed program / service and how it addresses the social issue
The unique value proposition of your program / service / business
Preparation of budget and financial projections
Articulation of funding narrative and return on investment
Proposed metrics to evaluate success of program / service
The final deliverables could be a Word document, PowerPoint presentation or any other collaterals that are required for by the grantor / funder for submission.
Review & Edits
Together, we’ll review the first draft and seek your inputs to refine it further if required, to move closer towards a final draft that can be submitted.
Submission
Once you are satisfied with the end product, you can submit the grant application or proposal and hopefully, we’ll receive a positive response!
Partnership Models
My clients typically work with me in either or both of these ways
Per Billable Hour
I’ll estimate a number of hours that I’ll need to complete the grant application, proposal or concept note and produce a timesheet for verification purposes.
% on Grant / Proposal Amount
We can agree on a % of the successful grant / proposal amount. This is typically used for projects with larger grant amounts beyond $100,000.
