In 2018 and 2019, I helped to design two open grant calls to give away $1,000 to 16 social changemakers. A wide variety of active citizens came forth with their ideas to make a positive difference for society, from a group of 16-year old students to a 77-year old grandfather, with projects such as: raising awareness toward sexual harassment on public transport, promoting healthy eating practices and advocating for intergenerational bonding. 

The first year saw 43 ideas coming forward and the second year saw 34 ideas. When ordinary citizens step forth to own the responsibility - and joy - of taking care of each other, when we refuse to complain or wait for the government or institutions to fix problems, Singapore can become an even more resilient society.
